Laura Cook - As a freshman at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., Laura met Jean S. Berube, Professor (ret.) of PE and Recreation and founder of the Personal Discovery Program (an experiential education curriculum, program, and ropes course). While Laura pursued her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics, she always made time to involve herself in the Personal Discovery Program. Under Jean’s tutelage, she learned about leading group activities, facilitation, and debriefing skills. Laura also traveled with Jean both in the USA and internationally including Russia, providing workshops as a Personal Discovery staff member for over 25 years.
After several years in Laura’s professional career at Gallaudet University, she decided to move to New Mexico to co-found Team Builders 8 with Jean Berube and 6 other Personal Discovery members in 2011. Laura is the CEO of Team Builders 8, a non-profit organization that provides team building workshops and organizational development consulting/training services to businesses, government agencies, schools, camps, and many other groups across the United States.
Today, Laura is now also a filmmaker/producer and founder of TB8 Films LLC. A graduate of Central New Mexico Community College’s Film Production Program (AAS), Laura has already been involved in making several short films and currently working on a documentary. Laura’s film work has been primarily in the camera department and as a Director of Photography/Cinematographer.
